Revised Horror Favorite Movies to watch.

Hooowwddyy!
It's good to be back in front of the keyboard, typing my little heart out.

Things are well in HOT HUMID EAST TEXAS!
Now to business with the fun stuff:  Further ado, adding more to the collection, my personal favorite of........(drum roll)

Horror movies of ALL TIME!

1. Cabin in the Woods:  Stop the press!  I've slack the hell off when this came out.  Don't judge a book by its cover.  Thanking my daughter hippin' me watch this GEM of a horror/comedy, the movie stands ALONE as one of the top horror movies of the 21st century.  Do you realize how long its been that an actual horror movie poking fun of the stereotype with a twist?  Thank the creator of Buffy, Firefly and the Marvel's Avengers director Joss Whedon!
Note: Some may argue the whole movie is stupid, respect their opinion.

2.  House of 10,000 Corpses: Rob Zombie's first film is a mix of crazy, terror and the family that murders together stay together. I like he sets the films in the seventies and he takes pride in producing splatter horror.  Rob been a favorite of mine since White Zombie came out in the 90's.

3. Alien:  Who wants to be stuck in space with an alien? RIPLEYYYYY!!!!  Enough said.  Ridley Scott's Prometheus and Alien: Covenant are the back stories to the whole Alien history.   Personally, I like Prometheus, flaws yes due to pacing and cutting on the editing floor but would have made SOLID sense in the Engineer/human creation story stick to many people who love a good sci-fi/drama/horror film.  I particular love the android David and Dr. Elizabeth Shaw; the connection of her unable to bear children and him being created out sheer ego by Weyland--unable to bear a proper male heir.  Both shared a growing curiosity to explore deep into the unknown. Elizabeth's faith and David, a sentient being (if you notice the human crew dissed him many times of not being flesh and blood) are survivors from the horror found on the planet.

4. The Fly (1986):  Cute ass Jeff Goldblum stars as Dr. Seth Brundle in the classic remake.  It's not quite an oldie but watching it again, I had to close my eyes over ten times.  Very fond of David Crohnberg's work from Scanners to Existence visceral imagery horror which I really love and respect but goodness! The gross factor is wwwaaayyy up!  I almost puked twice.

5. The Mist: Another favorite Stephen King movie that I watch over and over again.  Found out weeks ago, The Mist is turned into a series on a cable network.  Worse than The Fog, I mean shit creatures from another dimension snatching people up like scooby snacks.  Sadly, my boy the Shermanator didn't make it...

6. The Descent
7. The Thing
8. Let the Right One In
9. Poltergeist
10. Creepshow
11. From Beyond
12. Night of the Creeps
13. Hellraiser
14. Hellraiser 2
15. Phantasm
16. Phantasm 2
17. Cat People (1982 & 1942)
18. Lost Boys
19. Army of Darkness- ok, its more of action but continuing the story to Evil Dead 2.
20. Evil Dead & Evil Dead 2
21. People Under the Stairs
22. Silver Bullet\
23. Steven King's IT (TV movie)
24. Dreamcatcher
25. Candyman
26. Tales from the Hood
27. Slither
28. Child's Play
29. Dawn of the Dead (1978)
30. Re-Animator
31. Scanners
32. Supirira
33. Pet Cemetary
34. Insidious
35. Halloween (1978)
36. Nightmare on Elm St. (1984)
37. Fright Night (1985)
38. Resident Evil
39. Dracula
40. Shawn of the Dead
41. 28 Days

Wow, the list grew!  If you have any suggestions or favorite horror movies aren't listed give me a shout-out my Facebook page The Kountry Soul Girl!

Denver is the bomb!

Howdy! Back from Denver, CO.

My first winter vacation and enjoyed the hell out of it!

My first thoughts:  Damn, didn't know Denver was poppin' like that!  Like a perfect "utopia" of outdoorsy and city life rolled up into one.  Filled with art, nightlife, many many things to do in the Mile High City.

1up in LoDo is heaven!  If you grew up going to the mall on the weekend spending all your chedda at the local arcade, this is the place for you--minus the mall rats.

Hit up The Church or Club Vinyl for some dancing while the dj drops maginificant beats afterwards sit a spell at Stoney's for latter good times.

Trekkie gaming love.

I walked the whole time and damn it wasn't very cold.  The weather is pretty pleasant and tolerant for us Texans to have a great time.

Yo, the men are very handsome and nice  *Keep it up Colorado*!  People super friendly not "fake friendly" where I reside.  Hey, being honest here; felt more accepted and free to be myself  visiting San Francisco and other places.  I love you Texas but ya'll need work on  "friendly" not only people visiting our state but our own Texans.  Tellin' ya, heard too many stories on my travels of 15 plus years from different walks of life and not good stories either, the rarest are pleasant experiences.

Thank you Denver, CO for a wonderful couple of days of adventure, fun and seeing some normal snow, not freak of nature snow when it feels like coming to Texas.  hahaha

Shall visit soon?????????? to be continued................

Peace and Blessings

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2017

Howdy!

2017 is here and full of new-ness.

For starters, social media break.  Much needed, I have found my mental state need a organic reboot from all the technology.  Though am listening to music and watch a few selected shows but it wears the brain pretty thin.  The creative side is a little raggedy to the point where my joys are not being appreciated, my comforts are being compromised with rambling thoughts.

Do have a soon to be new hobby in the works :)
Hint: mouthgard and skates

Also the focus is on training for a 5k that attended last year.  Wassssss nooootttt reeeeaadddyyyy but had a fun time, right now?  Researching, planning and changing up the body for this.  This is not one of those "New Year's Resolutions" but an actual plan to tone up, amp the cardio and have loads of fun. Why not? wake up at 5:30 am everyday, wish I can leave work at 3 p.m.!

From the past post and what's been happening in the past week it's time for a wee bit of happiness.

Perfect is too constricting, energy draining with low end frustrating results.  Happy is accepting everything conditional and unconditional where looking back that the flaws, challenges, imperfections is rewarding with a laughter and smile. How many times did we laugh at something that was not going our way during life sitatuations?
Plenty this past week!  All I did was ask for positive vibes( THANK YOU kind sir ;) ) , ate a Swiss Roll and took a nap, hence everything went smooth.  Treated myself to some social gathering with buddies and just had a nice time.  The result end up happy accepting all what was presented because trusting myself knowing that water leak was going to be fixed.  Sure there was some a tiny self doubt because I let a certain person's self doubt influenced me when there wasn't a need to react.

For the sake of your spirit, energy and positive moods, deflect any negative minded person in your space!  Be assertive, firm and back away slowly or just RUN!  Majority I run to the nearest exit or make a Scooby-Doo Shaggy exit..LOL

The New Year was spent with family and the cows. I love our cows!!!!

Many blessing, peace, positive thoughts from me and the Universe.  Be kind, good, recharge, find new and exciting things to do, have fun, visit old hobbies, kick an old habit, find a better healthier habits without compromising your life and health, fall in love, be a better person, sibling, parent, a friend, land the kick ass job of your dreams, leave the crappy job to start fresh on new business endeavors.  Remember you are the captain of your life, nobody cannot stop you from making the life you've always wanted and the happiness that you seek in everyday life.

Will be back soon???? Until then

Love from my heart

Peep this..... 2017

2016 is almost over, 11 days til 2017.

Friends, let's close out with good note. Good or bad, learn from the lesson and keep moving forward.

Speaking on that note, I want to finish up on two books sitting on the bookshelf collecting dust for a year.

* I can do it :)

2016 is almost over, can we breathe for a moment?

I can not wait to see this movie.
Not because of the trailer but the whole storyline of the game. If you haven't played Assassin's Creed (who hasn't!) then you'll get lost in the whole plot if watching the movie.

Of course Michael Fassbender---(cue the Married with Children audience sound bit where the one guy howls when Christina Applegate's character Kelly Bundy walks into the room.)   OOOOOOWWWWWWWW!!!!

Fall semester is over as of Monday... Thank the Goddess as my brain turned into mush couldn't think straight, stressed (lavender oil and hitting bed early), plenty of water helped out.  Though I caught a cold during the Thanksgiving holidays, my brain and body feels better now.

Let the fun times roll!

Speaking on movie trailers, watched Suicide Squad........................................................................................................
I give it 10 thumbs down with counting the cows at the farm too.  That movie just sucked.  It bored the hell out of me, only character whose interesting is Amanda Waller!  Just say Viola Davis should have won 7 Academy Awards in this role instead of The Help.  Seriously, never watched The Help and neva eva, eva, eva intent to watch until the day I die.  The reboot of Ghostbusters is better than Suicide, not ashamed of what I said; you can disagree with me until infinity but Ghostbusters had more jokes, action and a decent storyline.

"Which picture is better me listening to sax or playing the sax?"

Boy shhhhhhhhh...stop talking.
Quite frankly this joke made me spit out my water--unexpected.

Another hidden gem in good ol East Texas is 7th St. Cafe in Cushing, Texas.  Delicious food, good drinks and laid back atmosphere makes the place awesome.  I didn't know this place existed!! Almost 15 years??? Where was I?  Don't let the Iron Pine Curtain fool you, there's beauty among the old buildings, faded signs and unique history.

Don't let the exterior fool you.

Xmas is around the corner and 2016 is almost over.  This has been one weird year but I had fun.  Can't get over how many people have passed away this year every time you've turned around. 2016 was no joke to celebrities to hometown people leaving this earth.  My love and condolences to every family, 2016 also claimed my grandfather's sister.
The family may never seen eye to eye with her but broke my heart to hear the news.  Indeed she'll cast the evil eye on you for no reason but she lived an interesting life and have a big heart.  Reminds me of Patti Lupone's character from Penny Dreadful, spend time getting to know the person and all the negative stories fade away.

Well gang it's time to hop, MudRun 2017 registration is tomorrow and must get in shape before April.  Terribly excited, this time wreck it like Ralph!!

Peace and Blessings,

Still on the Halloween kick and its almost Turkey Day.

Yes YES YES, the weather in East Texas is getting cooler and loviiiinnnngggg iiiittt!!!

Halloween wasn't celebrated properly so taken the liberty to extend it throughout November so mucho horror movies to watch and it's sooo much fun!!

Not a Starbucks fan but the Passion & Peach hot teas are to die for!  Move over Pumpkin spice of everything you can think of, bring the tropical flavors for the Fall/Winter season. Only thing pumpkin I like is pie.  Believe there's a "unoffical" Southern food rule where pumpkin pie is a treason of traditional Southern holiday pies and cakes.  Always been the rule breaker and rebel of the family!! LOL

Me after the election:  Woke up with a smile and went about my day.  The sun was shining, people being friendly and nice. Shoot had a great day at work.  The End.

Swearing on the Lisa Frank Bible this how it was in Texas, no joke!

People have a wonderful Thankgiving Day, spend it with the ones you love.  Please for the sake of cute kittens, do not engage in any crazy arguments, fights or any type of stupidity.  Time is the essense, spend it wisely and safe!  Those who are traveling, be safe and careful on the road from 30 miles to 3000 be SAFE!

FYI:  Please be nice to retail employees on Thanksgiving night and Black Friday sales. They are being patient with you and there to serve.  These people are missing half of a holiday to cater you with your early Christmas shopping, we need you as well you need us.

Again do not fight on these days!!!!  The shit merchandise gets a deeper discount in January!! LOLOOLOLOLOOLOLOLOL.

Peace and Blessings!

Dragon Con and Happy 50th Anniversary to Star Trek.

Greetings from Texas!

Typing this from a long nap--jet lag and driving, regaining my strength and a good tuna sub

Labor Day weekend adventure was set in Atlanta, GA for Dragon Con 2016!

My first time cosplay and visiting Atlanta was a treat.  Running off with two wonderful girls from the adopted town I reside.

First Day: Nyota Uhura

I had to represent Uhura because she is the FIRST cosplay decision ever--hands down.
Growing up watching Star Trek, Ms. Nichols portraying Uhura gave me a role model for being a sci-fi fan and a woman of color to boldly go!   Mom would be proud of me wearing the proud symbol and yes Uhura was a her childhood role model too.  Posing next to a Dalek, am too a Dr. Who fan.

Trekkies just wanna have fun!

Me and Geordi
Old meets the reboot mashup!

Did I mention plenty of eye candy????

They knew we're friggin hot!

Egon, my other crush

Ole`Ole`

Frankenfurter and Rocky

Oh baby, did I do it or not?  My favorite character since high school; Ash from the cult classic Evil Dead 2.  My mother was terrifed of the cover when we rented at the video store (remember those?) as my brother and I popped it in; we laughed, got scared and found a hero: Ash.   Many years later share my love for this movie and Army of Darkness with my children.  My son loves Ash and bought him the action figure too.  He also recited the classic "This here is my boomstick" dialog.

Though my chainsaw isn't "practical" I used salvaged parts at the last minute.

Groovy!

McGyver the hell out my costume

Hail to the Queen, Baby!

Last day: Dalek  (Victorian/Steampunk/50's-esque)
Cute Daleks wear pearls when exterminating, we broke off from the others and form our own clan.

I seen Alex Kingston...enough said!
Rivvvaassooonnngggggg!!!

Happy wonderful 50th Anniversary to Star Trek.

Star Trek is still ahead of it's time and love every episode, movie and whatever ST I can get ahold to.  Second generation Trekkie that I am.

I get emotional looking at the 1st crew.

Live long and Prosper
Go out an explore a comic convention in your homestate or three states over. :)
Ladies get OUT THERE dress up and have a fun time.

Shout out to ATL for showing a Texas girl a great time, people are friendly, helpful and such much to do in Atlanta.

Another shout out to RD, my sci-fi sister from another mother.

Peace and Blessings
